Story of the Month: Strike
I am a fellow Pet Reiki Practitioner with Lynn. Our amazing journey with Reiki began this past December. Early in the month, my cat Strike woke me up with severe vomiting. I took him to his vet & he was hospitalized with pancreatitis for a couple of days. When he came home, he was ok for a couple of weeks, but not himself.
Then on December 21st, he woke me up again vomiting. I took him to the vet again. He received some IV fluids and anti-nausea medication. He continued to deteriorate throughout the night. I brought him back to the vet the following day for some more treatment. By day 3, he still was not eating. Ultrasound imaging and blood tests revealed that his liver was quite inflamed along with his pancreas, small intestine and gallbladder. This is not uncommon with pancreatitis in cats because all these organs are so close in a small space. However, with cats, if they don’t start eating after a couple of days they can start to go into liver failure and die.
By Christmas Day, my friend had gone nearly 5 days and only eaten 2 small spoonful’s of food – not nearly enough for a cat. I spent Christmas Day crying my eyes out thinking Strike was going to pass or I would have to put him down to end his suffering. I thought in my head – if only I could offer Strike Reiki, at least it might bring him some comfort or peace. No matter how hard I tried, I could not ground and center myself enough to deliver Reiki to my friend. I was just too upset and emotionally uprooted. That was when I reached out to Lynn. I asked her if she could offer distance Reiki to Strike. In the middle of Strike’s 2nd distant healing Reiki session with Lynn, he got up came over to me and asked to be fed! I could not believe it. I have seen amazing and wonderful things happen with Reiki energy before, but this left me in shock. My cat had gone nearly 6 days with barely any food. He had all kinds of medication to help him feel well enough to eat – with no response.
Lynn continued to do distant Reiki for over a month. Strike had a few small bouts of vomiting along the way, but each time Lynn and the Reiki energy were there to help support him and get him through. Strike continues to need medication and traditional treatment, but just after a month of Reiki, his blood liver values returned to a normal range. After 2 months we have been able to reduce the amount of medication he was on. He continues to eat and is now playing and jumping. This whole experience has deepened my appreciation of Reiki on a whole other level. I know Reiki is not a substitute for traditional medical care, but Reiki helped shift Strike’s energy so he could respond to the medical treatment and has helped support and strengthen his system. Lynn was exceptional and amazingly supportive not only for Strike, but for me and I will be eternally grateful to her for her loving support. I would highly recommend Lynn and your pet would be very lucky to have her as their Reiki practitioner.
